April 2008 - NAM School Students Win AmVets Awards

NORTH AMERICAN MARTYRS STUDENTS WIN AMVETS AWARDS

 

Students in Grades 2, 4, 5, and 6, at North American Martyrs School in Monroeville participated in an Americanism Contest recently.  The contest was sponsored by the North Braddock AmVets, and the students had to write or draw about “Their Favorite American Hero.”  The second grade winners were:  1st place – Sydney Hogue, 2nd place – Austin Vogel, 3rd place – Mila Hajduk.  The fourth grade winners were:  1st place – Erin Regrut, 2nd place – Thomas Casey, 3rd place – Aaron Cenname.  The fifth grade winners were:  1st place – Elena Merlino and Madeline Hall, 2nd place – Christian Waldron, 3rd place – Natalie Naman.  The sixth grade winners were:  1st place – Carisa Campbell, 2nd place – Marie Horomanski.  Elena Merlino’s poster went on to the state level, where she came in 3rd place for the state of Pennsylvania .  She will be given an award this summer at the Radisson Hotel.  Congratulations to all of the winners!
