September 2010 - NAM Extends a Helping Hand to HAITI

Alison Smith, the daughter of Dr. James and Paula Smith, members of NAM parish, described her

work as the Medical Director for the Tulane Haiti Medical Relief team beginning in March 2010.

Haiti had recently been devastated by an earth quake. Alison is completing her final year in

Tulane's Medical School. The website www.santetotal.org describes the

 work of the relief team.

A medical problem with the children in Haiti is worms. The generous contributions by the NAM congregation enabled Alison to purchase the de-worming meds. The photo at the left shows her distributing the medications during her most recent visit to Haiti.

The medical volunteers reside in the

Bishop Sullivan Catholic mission house

in the photo at the right. Obviously they

pray that there is not another earth quake

during their stay.
