The Forbidden City, now a museum, was the imperial palace of
the Ming and Qing dynasties, for 500 years.

The statue is Fr. Matteo Ricci who help spread Catholicism in China. He founded
St. Mary's
and established the school.

17th century protected northern borders of the Chinese Empire.

The following set of photos of the Temple of Heaven is a complex of Taoist buildings situated in southeastern urban Beijing. Construction of the complex began in 1420, and was thereafter visited by all subsequent Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is regarded as a Taoist temple, although the worship of Heaven, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, pre-dates Taoism.
The Temple grounds covers 2.73 kmē of parkland, and comprises three main groups of construction.
