For those
old-fashioned recipe lovers:
Bread
Pudding
Put 1 quart of milk in pan and almost scald it.
Remove from heat. Then beat 3 eggs and add to mixture. Add 1/3 cup
of sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 3 tablespoons of butter, then
stir. Break up 4 slices of bread into small pieces and add to
mixture. Then add 1/2 cup of raisins and sprinkle nutmeg on top.
Put the corning dish on a cookie sheet in case of
spills, and tilt the lid of the dish (don't put it on completely) so
that the milk doesn't overflow.
Bake for roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes in a 350
degree oven. When done, the pudding should look like custard. Let
it completely cool or else it will be very runny.
