Blessing of the Animals A procession of animals is led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets. On Sunday, October 7th the Blessing of the Pets took place at 1:15 PM. This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. Francis' Feast Day is October 4th.
