The
Memorial to the Unborn, a display of 400 white crosses representing 4000
innocent babies killed by abortion each day in the
United States
, was erected
on
Saturday, September
29, 2007
on the front lawn
of North American Martyrs Church in
Monroeville
by members of the
Holy Name Society in conjunction with the Respect Life Committee.
The field of white crosses will be on display for the month of October,
Respect Life Month, to commemorate the lives of unborn babies killed daily by
abortion.
Each
cross represents 10 babies per day that are aborted in the
United States
.
Two signs at the display will provide a short explanation of the
Memorial to the Unborn and a list of phone numbers for Crossroads Pregnancy
Services, Birthright of Pittsburgh and Rachel’s Vineyard for post-abortion
healing.
The
Memorial to the Unborn first came to
Western Pennsylvania
after members of St. Benedict the
Abbot
Church
in
McMurray
,
Pa.
saw a similar display at a
Lutheran
Church
in
Sedalia
,
Missouri
. The display of crosses made
such an impact that upon returning home, that members immediately went to work
constructing their own crosses.
The
display is available to anyone concerned about the fate of the 1.25 million
unborn babies destroyed by abortion each year in the
United States
. It has been used
by various church denominations.
